Our History
For more than 40 years, Carter CPA LLC has served clients in New York, New Jersey, and throughout the country. Initially, the firm focused primarily on tax preparation for individuals. As the needs of our clients evolved to include business accounting,
financial planning, and
estate planning & administration, Carter CPA expanded into these areas as well. Our firm now offers a range of services that includes assistance with such financial matters as estate tax exemptions and gift tax laws.

Our Role
As your CPA, we see our role as being your strategic advisor. Our goal is to provide you with step-by-step guidance and comprehensive advice so you can make the most informed decisions possible. We work with you to increase your "Financial IQ" — a measure of understanding of financial impact. By working with you to clarify the impact, we are able to assist you in planning for and accomplishing goals.
The cornerstone of our practice is tax preparation and business accounting. When you work with us, the required income tax returns, business tax filings, financial statements, and estate tax returns are conversation starters rather than the output. While we compile the information necessary to accomplish these services, we learn about you. This knowledge launches our team approach to reviewing every area of your financial life so that we can provide comprehensive assistance.
As your financial team leader, we coordinate the flow of information among your professional advisors. Carter CPA will work with your existing advisors or we would be happy to introduce you to the team we have established to make sure you have all of the necessary resources.
Working Together
In today's fast paced environment the use of cutting edge technology and immediate access to data is important to our clients.
We provide each of our clients with a cloud-based, secure online portal to share information and access documents from anywhere with an internet connection. We also provide hosted software solutions for our business clients. While we make sure to have the best technology available to work together efficiently, there is one thing that we have not changed in forty years. Our business is focused on a great relationship with our clients and working together remotely for most of our services will never replace our availability for a face-to-face meeting.
